Not a whole lot to report. Not much has changed since this morning, nothing good at least. Everything has remained the same overall, but he is struggling on the new ventilator a bit. His blood gas level was 7.28 tonight, so it has actually dropped by .01 rather than going up like we need. The oxygen percent he is being given is down to 34%, but his co2 levels were down so his inspiratory pressure was raised to 23 rather than being taken down. Overall today was a little frustrating for us. We did come home tonight. While we really appreciate the 5th wheel we are using, we realize we sleep much better in our own bed, and we actually feel like we are doing something for Shiloh by preparing our house for his arrival. Carrie also has better luck pumping at home too. So, we may make the drive almost everyday and use the 5th wheel as our down time home while we are in Odessa since we can't be in the room with him all the time anyway. It gives us somewhere to be rather than a waiting room. We will still sleep there a couple of nights a week. For now, splitting our time each day seems like a better idea. We are able to see him, but also feel useful by getting things in order. Of course, this will probably all change when he comes off the vent and is able to be held and fed and loved on. For now, the road will be long, but our reserve is strong. Us getting better rest at home is ultimately in the best interest of Shiloh in the long run. For now, we have only 2 prayer requests:
- Pray his advances continue to advance
- Pray his lungs become stronger and he is able to be weaned off the vent.
Thank you all
